How to Access Health Records from Wolston Park

If you were a victim of sexual assault as a child in Wolston Park Mental Hospital, or any other institution, you can apply for compensation. You can do this through the redress scheme.

If you want to apply for access to your health records through a Right to Information Request, click here.

If they deny you access or only provide heavily redacted copies, you can appeal to the Office of the Commissioner of Information.

That’s what I had to do to access my brother’s Wolston Park records.

Thankyou for all you all did towards attaining some closure for us and our loved ones. I participated in the Review but have been a lifelong sufferer of Complex Post Traumatic Stress related illness since my birth whilst my beloved mum was incarcerated there for undiagnosed Alcoholic illness. The Trauma induced by the Queensland government has been severe and life long for me and i lost all of my 11-13 siblings also. I don’t have any remaining strength to pursue an apology and I’m quite sure the Australian Government will never apologise for what happened to me and my family anyway.
I don’t think my participation was beneficial for my healing as I experienced re traumatisation during the process which appears to have caused permanent damage to my mental and physical health. At this stage I feel that some trauma, grief and unnecessary suffering can never be healed.
Shame on those who committed those atrocious crimes against humanity and peace.
Thankyou for fighting to allow the opportunity,…
